The 21-year-old defender, who went through the youth structure at Belgian giants Anderlecht, said he is looking forward to the season ahead.

Mbayo played for Scottish Premiership outfit Aberdeen for the last four years after moving north of the border from Oxford United, but finished last season playing at SkyBet Championship side Wigan Athletic.

It was the new management at Treyew Road which has drawn him to Cornwall.

He told http://www.trurocityfc.net: "I really thought that playing a season with these managers would be beneficial for me.

"Under them I'm able to develop and get the game time I want. It's a good club to be at."

"I know there is a brand-new stadium on the cards," he added. "The way the club is being run at the minute; it's going in a good direction and can only help my career."

As well as the off-field potential of Truro City, Mbayo says he is hoping the on-field experience will be a great boost to this career.

"I've made my plans plain," he added. "I want to finish as high as possible and move the club back to where they belong. I'm trying to finish as high as we can and look for promotion."

Mbayo is looking to move down to Cornwall for the year and is looking forward to discovering more about the area. However, he is also planning on putting in the hours on the pitch and at training.

"I'm going to make sure I'm doing more training than the average. Truro City is shaping up to be a decent side," he added.
