Ford is a strong, athletic centre-back who reads the game very well, has great link up play and bridges possession between defence and attack.

He began his footballing career by signing for Coventry City`s academy in 1999 at the age of young age of 9.

He was then played in various positions in defence before being identified at the academy as a centre-back.

Then, at the age of 16, he secured a scholarship with Coventry City playing regularly for their under-16s and under-18 academy sides and was part of the successful under-18 team that won the Professional Development League South title and successful FA Youth Cup run.

He signed his first professional contract in 2017 and then became a regular for the development under-23 side.

During his time at Coventry he went on loan to Mickleover Sports in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Premier Division in October 2018 – a loan which was extended until January 2019.

He was released by the Sky Blues at the end of the 2018/19 season.
