Abnett joins from league rivals Merstham where he played a key part in their play-off campaign last season and had been announced as a signing for another Bostik Premier outfit, Kingstonian, earlier this summer.

Formerly with Crystal Palace, the 28-year-old is a pacey right-back who joined Merstham in 2015.

After leaving Palace in 2009 he had spells with Mansfield Town, Lewes, Sutton United and Finnish sides Vestri Isafjordur and Vikingur and signed for the Moatsiders from Dulwich Hamlet.

Abnett can play at both right-back or on the right of midfield and will add further competition for places in manager Jay Saunders new-look side.
