Ricky Cornish moved quickly to add the 30-year-old and has now almost completed his squad for the 2019/20 campaign

An attacking midfield player, Canfer had spells with Whitton United, Woodbridge Town, Stowmarket Town, Needham Market, Ramsgate and Hadleigh United before joining Bostik League North side AFC Sudbury in the summer of 2015 from Brightlingsea Regent.

Canfer announced his injury-forced retirement from playing due to a troublesome back injury in October 2017, following two years at Bury Town where he made 43 appearances, scoring 13 goals, although not having managed an outing in 2017/18.

He joined Debenham LC for a brief spell as assistant-manager and then re-joined Stowmarket in the summer of 2018 as a player.
