BetVictor Southern League Division One Central club Welwyn Garden City`s recruitment continues with the signing of six more new players.

Young goalkeeper Connor Sansom joins having, along with fellow new Herns Lane team-mates Carl Mensah and George Ironton, narrowly missed out on promotion at Tring Athletic last season and he completes a trio of captures from the Spartan South Midlands League runners-up of last season for new Citizens’ boss Nick Ironton.

 

Prior to his spell at Tring, Connor, a distant relation of former England and Arsenal international full-back Kenny Sansom, played very successfully for Harpenden Town in their promotion attempt from the SSML the previous season and previously at Step 4 level for AFC Dunstable prior to that.

 

He began with his home-town club Boreham Wood and has also seen service with Potters Bar Town.

 

Defender Will McClelland returns to the Citizens for a second spell having been with Harpenden and Codicote last season.

 

He enjoyed two successful seasons at Harpenden after joining from Welwyn Garden City and also served Langford.

 

Young full-back Matt Crook joins having just finished his studies at Northumbria University in Newcastle, where he was a regular in inter-varsity football.

 

He was previously with Hertford Town.

 

Another new defender is Connor Clarke, who spent most of last season with FC Broxbourne Borough in the SSML Division One.

 

He was previously with Hemel Hempstead Town, Hoddesdon Town, Maldon & Tiptree, St Margaretsbury and Hitchin Town.

 

Striker Ollie Carey arrives having been a prolific scorer for Clapton in the Essex Senior League in recent seasons.

 

And midfielder George Naismith joins after suffering relegation with Dunstable Town last term.

 

He numbers Codicote and Harpenden Town amongst his other former clubs.
