Ashford Steps Up Two Levels
03-01-2019 I News Headlines
Vanarama National League South club East Thurrock United have won the race to sign forward Sam Ashford from Bostik League North side Witham Town.

The 23-year-old joined Witham from Essex Senior League side Stansted in the summer.

Quick off the mark and with an eye for goal, Ashford has scored 10 goals in 24 games for Witham this season and has attracted attention from several clubs higher in the non-League Pyramid.

Previously with Heybridge Swifts and Maldon & Tiptree, the son of Witham manager Mark earned English FA representative honours when he played for England C in two games in the Falkland Islands in November.

Ashford marked his final game for Witham with the only goal of the game to help beat one of his former clubs, Maldon on December 29th.
