Griffiths,
a former professional at Ipswich Town and Plymouth Argyle, signed signed for the
Marketmen in the summer of 2017 after returning to full fitness after suffering
an ACL injury some 18 months earlier.
After
leaving the professional game, he had spells with AFC Sudbury, Kettering Town and
Long Melford, for whom the 27-year-old scored 56 goals in 77 games before
moving to Needham Market.
He
has re-joined the Villagers ahead of the new campaign after the club agreed an
initial three-month loan with Marketmen boss Richard Wilkins.
Griffiths`
personal circumstances have changed where he is unable to commit to the demands
of the league, so it was felt the best compromise as he is still contracted to
the club was to send him on loan to a club he knows very well.
Of
his decision, Griffiths told http://www.needhammarketfc.co.uk: “I’ve really
enjoyed my last two seasons at Needham, it’s a brilliant club with so many
great people, but I’ve had to put my family first.
“The
traveling last season meant that I didn’t spend as much time as I wanted to with
my son, who was born in December, so I want to get the right balance and feel
this is the best option for my family right now.
“I’m
truly grateful to Richard Wilkins for everything he and the club has done for
me during my time at Bloomfields, and for understanding my situation. It’s not
been an easy decision to make, by any means, but I thank everyone at Needham
for their support.” |
