O`Neill, who is 19, has made 5 first team appearances for Boro in the EFL Trophy in the last two seasons, and has been a regular in their Premier League reserve team.

Last season he scored 7 goals in 18 matches for them. He also had a loan spell with National League side Hartlepool United last season, and he scored for them in an Emirates FA Cup tie with Gillingham.

Darlington manager Alun Armstrong told https://darlingtonfc.co.uk: “Tyrone is different to what we’ve got at the moment. He’s tall and wiry, gets stuck in, and gives as good as he gets. He looks after the ball, has got good feet and is also quite quick. I’m looking forward to working with him”.
