The 26-year-old joined the Chelsea youth set-up when he was an 8-year-old, he went on to sign his first professional contract with Chelsea in 2010.

Clifford spent time on loan at Colchester United, Yeovil Town and Belgium side Royal Antwerp before being released by Chelsea in 2014.

The creative midfielder went on to sign for League One Walsall where he spent a season, before moving to Boreham Wood in the National League the following year.

Clifford had a successful term at Meadow Park and earned a move to League Two in 2016 after signing for Crawley Town where he spent two seasons.

He returned briefly to Boreham Wood last season before new Stones boss Dean Brennan signed him for Hemel Hempstead Town.

Clifford then followed Brennan to Billericay Town in December and in January, he joined his local side Slough Town on loan, where he spent the remainder of the 2018/19 season.
