The experienced 32-year-old centre-back was released by the Clarets at the end of the 2018/19 season after making 23 appearances and scoring one goal after joining in December 2018, helping them to the play-offs.

However, he was called back and impressed during pre-season, putting pen-to-paper on a new contract at the Melbourne Stadium.

Cascaval began his career with hometown club Academia Chişinău and went on to play for various clubs across Europe, which has seen him play in Kazakhstan for Kaisar, Uzbekistan for Olmaliq and Neftchi Fergana, Russia for Luch-Energiya Vladivostock, Malta with Naxxar Lions and the Faroe Islands for Vikingur.

He has also featured for the Moldovan national team, making his debut in 2011 against Georgia and has 9 caps to date – the last of which came in 2017.
