Hot on the heels of welcoming prolific striker Justin Bennett to Salisbury Road, the Stags have swooped for midfielder Liam Crook from Hamble Club and forward Stuart Green from Salisbury FC.
Crook played a key part in Hamble’s climb from the Hampshire to the Wessex ranks and captained them on their maiden Sydenhams Football League (Wessex) Premier voyage last term.
He can play in numerous positions and is described by his new club as “a truly gifted player.”
Crook, who has also played for Sholing and Winchester City, is delighted to be welcomed into the Totton fold.
“I’ve joined a big club locally which you can see is going in the right direction,” he told the club`s website. “I am really looking forward to a good pre-season.
“No one can match the gaffer’s training, with his background, so I know I will be the fittest I have been.”
Green (pictured) arrives off the back of a fantastic promotion-winning season with Salisbury where he plundered 30 goals in all competitions to land the club’s `golden boot`.
Green has played for some decent clubs over the last decade in senior football, including stints at Bognor Regis Town, Moneyfields and Winchester City.
AFC Totton fans - and Southern League fans in general - will recall his goal-laden partnership with Craig Feeney whilst playing for Winchester City.
Langdown said: “Stuart is a player everyone appreciates. His non-stop running, clever movement, link up play and goals are just the minimum he brings. We are considered in our recruitment, there are enough players out there for every team, we know everything about the player before we speak to them. Would Greener sign for us if it came down to money? Of course not, and we know that before any conversation happens. We will be out bid constantly. So, circumstances, and homework on our part pays dividends. Greener is quite straight forward, he speaks his mind, he’s a local lad who’s about to start a family, he works in close proximity to the ground and wants to play a major role in our team. We are thrilled to get him over the line”. |
