Armer, who signed his first professional deal in May, is equally comfortable playing in the centre or on the left of the defence.

Armer, who has been with the academy from under-9 level, kicked on again last season with 2 goals in 28 youth team appearances, having also made a handful of appearances in the previous campaign.

The Preston-born defender, who captained the side on a couple of occasions last season, is also a Scotland under-16 and under-19 international.
