Evo-Stik Southern League Division One Central club Welwyn Garden City have appointed Dean Barker as their new manager in succession to Adam Fisher, who resigned in midweek.

Barker, formerly manager of Northwood in the Bostik League South Central and Spartan South Midlands League Cockfosters, has been appointed until the end of the season.

He played with great distinction for Cockfosters becoming their record goalscorer with 50 goals in season 2008/09 before going on to manage the club to eighth and third-placed finishes in the SSML which is the best in the club's history.

He then joined Wingate & Finchley of the Bostik Premier as first team coach/under-23 manager, leading the under-23ís to several trophy successes as well as achieving an eighth-place finish - also the best in the club's history.

Next port of call was Northwood, who he had in seventh place in the table before leaving the club in October last year.
