The
winger has joined Boro after impressing during a preseason trial.
He
was a member of the Coventry City academy from the age of 7 and signed a first
year professional contract at the Sky Blues, featuring on their bench on four
occasions.
He
has also been called up to the Scotland under-19 side.
After
a short spell out of the game after being released by Coventry, he began
training with Rugby Town, enjoyed the game again and signed for the Valley.
In
the summer of 2015 he joined Chasetown but his stay with the Scholars was a brief
one as he moved closer home to join Total Motion Midland League side Coventry
Sphinx.
In
August 2016 he stepped up several levels to sign for Vanarama National League
North outfit Brackley Town.
But
in the summer of 2017, he returned to his home city, this time to Midland
Leaguers Coventry United.
The
following close season, Rankin re-joined Rugby after scoring 13 goals for
Coventry United.
In
2018/19 he played 35 times for the now-United Counties League Premier Division
Rugby Town and scored 16 goals.
