It
means that the former Garforth Town, Ossett Town and Parkgate boss, who was
appointed in May, took charge of just one competitive match at the Rec.
A
statement released by the club said: "The club have made the decision to
relieve our manager Graham Nicholas from his position as manager.
"The
Board felt that they had to make the decision now even though he had not been
in the job long.
"It
is very difficult to manage a club like Athersley Recreation - we are not a
club who have financial clout but have strong values in sticking to producing
good young players and being brave enough to give them a chance.
"The
club is built on passion, commitment and hard work, not on paying players and
the vast number of money spiders that now dominate football.
"We
have always been a community club and pride ourselves on being a big family
with loyal players, volunteers, sponsors and parents.
"If
this means we have to take a step back and rebuild so be it as the club's
existence is paramount.
"Pete
Goodlad will take charge and prepare us for our Emirates FA Cup fixture this
coming Saturday at home to Padiham and is happy that all the backroom staff are
totally committed to maintaining the values of the club". |
