Charles weighed in with some crucial goals for Southport, having signed in January 2018 from Fleetwood Town.

He can play on the left or right wing or as a number 10, and began his career in the academy at Blackpool, before joining AFC Fylde in 2014.

He made 52 appearances for Fylde, scoring 14 goals during the club’s promotion season in the National League North.

Following promotion, he scored 4 goals in 12 games for the Coasters before securing a transfer to Fleetwood.

The 23-year-old made 54 league starts during his time at the Pure Stadium, registering 18 goals and picking up the award for the leading scorer last season.

He also scored 7 times in cup competitions, including a hat-trick in the Lancashire FA Partners Challenge Trophy Final win against Colne in April.
