Langdown
has brought in Gowan Stares, Mitchell Byrne and Liam Farrugia.
Stares
is a former New Zealand under-20 international who has more recently played for
Redditch United in the Southern Premier Division Central.
He
started out with Western Suburbs in his home country before coming over to
England for the first time in the summer of 2012 to join Cheltenham Town, where
he spent a couple of years mainly playing in the Robins` under-19 side.
He
returned to New Zealand and turned out for Wanderers SC and then Wellington
Olympic where he played for three years before returning to this country.
After
spending time training with Isthmian League Premier Division side Worthing, he
came across the work of the `Football Family`, a foundation created by Langdown
and his assistant Adam Wilde, and made contact via email.
Stares,
who impressed in the 6-0 pre-season friendly victory over Aldershot Town`s
under-23s, is comfortable in playing in midfield or defence and the 24-year-old
offers versatility and experience to the Stags` young squad.
Byrne
is already well known to Stags supporters having arrived on dual registration with
Sydenhams Football League (Wessex) Premier side Team Solent last season.
But
after playing two games for the club, the then-17-year-old suffered a nasty
injury that kept him out of football for six months.
Returning
to sign permanently at the start of pre-season, Byrne is nearing his way to
full fitness and is the reason he did not feature in the any of the pre-season
games.
Farrugia
has joined Totton on dual registration with Vanarama National League South new
boys Weymouth.
He
joined the Terras in 2016 from neighbours Poole Town and spent part of last
season on dual forms with Wessex Premier outfit Bashley. |
