Ironton
has re-signed popular striker Eusebio Da Silva after the big target man enjoyed
a good second half to last season with the Citizens, having joined from then-Isthmian
League North now South Central side Barking.
Having
played football since the age of 9, he was scouted by Sporting Clube de
Portugal and Victoria de Setubal in Portugal.
Alongside
his football skills, he is an accomplished athlete specialising in long jump
and sprinting.
He
came second in the Under-23s England Athletics Championships and European trials
and achieved silver and bronze medals at the British Universities Championships
and fifth in Loughborough International meeting.
An
additional midfielder has been added in the form of Charlie Payne, son of
former Watford, Barnet and Peterborough midfielder Derek Payne.
The
left-sided player joins from Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division
side Baldock Town.
Originally
with Chesham United, he has also had experience at Hatfield Town, Hitchin Town
and Barton Rovers.
The
third newcomer to Herns Lane is winger Jean-Paul Antwi.
Antwi was recruited by Ironton after impressing in Welwyn’s
fine display against a full-strength MK Dons line-up in pre-season, which
resulted in a 1-0 victory for the newly promoted League One side.
He was with Spartan South Midlands League Division One outfit Enfield Borough and
Isthmian South Central side Uxbridge last season.
He
was formerly with Wealdstone, Northwood and Hayes & Yeading United.
