Foden, who joined from new league rivals Gateshead in the summer, played every game in pre-season before picking up a hip injury on the eve of the campaign.

The 23-year-old was expected to be out for longer than anticipated, hence the arrival of Nathan Harker from Premier League neighbours Newcastle United.

Instead, Foden has made a swift recovery and has been loaned to Consett in order to gain minutes at a competitive level.

Foden will play for the Steelman on Friday when they host Thornaby and will return to Croft Park after their Tuesday night fixture at Sunderland Ryhope CW.

Blyth manager Lee Clark told http://www.blythspartans.com: “He is going to be playing two games, Friday night and Tuesday. I want him to be ready and keep his eye in,” said manager Lee Clark.

“We haven’t had a sub keeper on the bench, so it means Mark can go out and play competitive games.

“From a total selfless point of view, me the manager, I am having my two goalkeepers play competitive games over the next few days”.
