The
closest the evening came to seeing a `shock` result was at BetVictor Southern
League Division One South club Winchester City`s Simplyhealth City Ground where
the hosts were held to a 1-1 draw by Sydenhams Football League (Wessex) Premier
newcomers AFC Stoneham.
There
was a little piece of history made at the Don Amott Arena as Northern Premier
League Premier Division side Mickleover Sports eased through their tie against
Total Motion Midland League Premier Division visitors Coventry Sphinx.
Sports
were comfortably leading 3-0, thanks to a James Cadman hat-trick, when
youngster John A McGrath came off the bench 9 minutes from time to join father
John and become the first father and son combination to play in the same
Mickleover team!
Plenty
of drama in the all-Ebac Northern League First Division tie between Whickham
and Thornaby.
The
hosts made the perfect start to the game when Matty Pattison fired them ahead
inside 4 minutes.
Whickham
were the better team for the first half-hour but found themselves a man down
when Kelvin Thear was sent-off for a strong challenge.
Just
10 minutes later, Thornaby made their man advantage count when they drew level
through Lewis Green, who bagged a second on 54 minutes.
With
time running out, Whickham were awarded a penalty when Matty Grieve was fouled
in the area but Carl Finnigan’s spot-kick was saved.
Uhlsport
United Counties League Premier Division side Rothwell Corinthians earned a good
2-0 win at Thurlow Nunn League Division One hosts Great Yarmouth Town.
A
Craig Maisiri effort and a late own goal won it for the Northamptonshire side.
Johnny
Ashman gave Isthmian South Central hosts Barking an 18th minute lead at
Mayesbrook Park against Isthmian North side Aveley.
Defender
Wyan Reid equalised for the Millers on 57 minutes, but just 3 minutes later,
Nana Boakye-Yiadom won the Essex derby for the Blues.
No
upsets at the Enclosed Ground where Isthmian South East club Whitehawk saw off
Southern Combination League Premier Division side Saltdean United 2-0.
A
crowd of 350 saw goals from David Martin after 53 minutes and Lucas Rodrigues 7
minutes from time win the Sussex derby for the Hawks.
Promoted
Southern League Premier Division South Blackfield & Langley saw off former
Southern Division One South rivals AFC Totton 2-1 at Gang Warily.
Lerone
Plummer bagged a brace for the hosts, with Craig Feeney replying.
Goals
in the 19th minute from Brown, one from Holden just before the break and a
third on 71 minutes from Farrell eased Combined Counties League Premier
Division hosts Sutton Common Rovers through 3-0 against Southern Combination
League Premier Division side Eastbourne Town.
And
Sutton`s league rivals Badshot Lea also made Friday night progress by winning
2-1 at Wessex Premier outfit Christchurch.
Badshot
trailed to an early 7th minute Callum Butler goal at Hurn Bridge before goals
in the 73rd and 79th minutes from Jordan Carter and Danilo Cadete respectively,
turned the tie in the visitors favour.
