Lewthwaite has been a revelation since joining the club on a non-contract basis in late July.

He turned heads by scoring in each of the Beavers’ first four league games - a run which earned him this new deal.

Still only 18, he was released in the summer by SkyBet League One side Rotherham United and returned to the family home in the south.

He was recommended to the Beavers by another player, who urged McCann to give him a chance.

McCann told https://www.hamptonfc.net: “He’s hit the ground running and certainly earned this chance. There’s still room for development in his game but we’ll be working to bring that out of him and I’m sure there’s more to come from an exciting, young player”.
