Burscough,
who won the higher-grade FA Trophy back in 2003 but are now plying their trade
in the Hallmark Security League (NWCL) Premier Division, have a home replay
after holding AFC Emley, now members of the NWCL Division One North, to a 1-1
draw in Yorkshire, coming back from being a 9th minute Dominic Riordan goal
down to force extra-time with a stoppage time equaliser.
There
were no goals in the extra 30 minutes, so it`s back to Burscough for a replay.
1987
winners, NWCL Division One North St Helens Town, bowed out after losing 2-1 at
home to Toolstation Northern Counties East League Division One side Rossington
Main, whose Tom Foltyn-Brown bagged a brace in the 1st and 72nd
minutes – Henry Kamara pulling one back 11 minutes from time.
The
2013 finalists, Southern Counties East Leaguers Tunbridge Wells, outclassed
Southern Combination League Division One side Littlehampton Town 4-0 with goals
from Danny Powell, Jack Hope, a Euan Sahadow penalty and Josh Froggatt.
Hassocks
gained a bit of revenge for the Southern Combination by beating Southern
Counties East Division One side Meridian Valley Park 2-0 with goals from Jack
Troak and Jamie Hillwood.
There
were a couple of extraordinary games.
Northern
Counties East Division One side Glasshoughton Welfare caused an upset by
winning 6-3 at NWCL Premier Division Litherland REMYCA after extra-time.
The
home side suffered from having two players, David Crist on 72 minutes and Neil Monaghan
9 minutes later, sent-off and then two others sin-binned, leaving them with
just SEVEN players for the final few minutes!
It
was 3-3 at the time of the first dismissal, with Monaghan, Paul Foy and Steve
Rothwell for Litherland and a Nathan Perks hat-trick for Welfare.
But
although the home side did well to hold the Yorkshire side to force extra-time,
they couldn`t hold out and the eleven men triumphed with goals from Ryan
Hallsworth, Francisco Matos and a fourth for Perks.
And
the-all NCEL Division One tie between Worsbrough Bridge Athletic and Hall Road
Rangers produced even more goals – 11 – and all in normal time!
Rangers
led 4-2 at half-time with goals from Callum Stone, Dan O`Connor, veteran
striker Gary Bradshaw and Connor Harman – Ash Emmett and Jack Wilson for the
hosts.
Kieran
Hirst pulled it back to 3-4 in the 55th minute only for Stone and
O`Connor again to make it 6-3 to Rangers.
Bridge
caused a few nerves as Hirst with his second and Kyle Wordsworth pulled them to
within one goal with 5 minutes remaining, but the Humbersiders held out.
Handsworth
Parramore of the NCEL Premier Division avoided an upset at home to NWCL Division
One North side Shelley Community, winning comfortably 4-0 with first half goals
from Leon Howarth and Joe Thornton being added to by Joe Parkin and Marley
Grant in the second.
The
NWCL did have another side progress in Premier Division Squires Gate, who triumphed
2-1 at Ebac Northern League First Division Whickham, although it took an
extra-time goal from Dean Ing to seal the Blackpool-based visitors` passage
after James Boyd had cancelled out Carl Finnigan`s 36th minute
opener in time added on at the end of normal time.
Total
Motion Midland League Premier Division newcomers Selston went through, beating their
former East Midlands Counties League rivals Teversal 3-1.
Keenan
Layton, Elliot Jones and Sean Gregory with the Selston goals.
There
was a `shock` at Thurlow Nunn League Division One Downham Town, who were ousted
4-0 at home by Step 7 Netherton United of the Chromasport & Trophies
Peterborough & District Football League Premier Division!
Robbie
Ellis with two, Fraser Sturgess and Richie Baines were the Peterborough-based
side`s marksmen.
Uhlsport
Hellenic League Division One East side Holyport came back from 2-0 down to beat
Spartan South Midlands Football League Division Two outfit Unite MK 3-2 with a
brace from Andy Frisky and one from sub Wes Sutherland.
