Basingstoke Hit TEN Against Struggling Swans
10-02-2019 I News Headlines
Although Taunton Town won 1-0 to move four points clear at the top of the Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division....

.....South table, the Saturday headlines revolve around the team at the opposite end of the table.

Staines Town are already looking doomed after losing for the 26th time in 29 matches.

But it`s the manner of their defeat a 10-3 hammering at the Camrose by mid-table Basingstoke Town which will be of most concern.

The Swans are now 23 points adrift of fourth-bottom Gosport Borough and, remarkably, they were 2-1 ahead at one stage!

Zidan Akers gave `Stoke an early 5th minute lead, but a 13th minute Sam Deadfield own goal and a Jack Torbett effort after 28 minutes gave the young Swans the lead.

But the returning Manny Williams and Sam Argent made it 3-2 to the hosts by half-time.

And the second period saw the visitors collapse.

Williams added his second on 53 minutes and, after Andy Ali scored Staines` third on 58 minutes, Argent also added his second just past the hour-mark.

Williams then had a penalty saved by Staines `keeper Louis Dixon on 64 minutes, but just 3 minutes later a Veron Kokurinkove own goal made it 6-3.

Deadfield at the right end, an Ollie Harris brace and Sam Smart completed the rout in the last 20 minutes.

A 28th minute Ryan Brett effort eventually proved enough for Taunton at the Elmbridge Xcel Sports Hub against a Walton Casuals side who are now only a point above the drop zone.

With second-placed Salisbury inactive, third and fourth-placed sides respectively, Weymouth and Metropolitan Police, met at Imber Court and fought out an amazing 4-4 draw.

Brandon Goodship gave the Terras an early 5th minute lead that Ollie Robinson levelled right on half-time.

Three minutes into first half injury-time, a cynical tackle from behind on Calvin Brooks is given as a penalty which Goodship duly converted.

On 56 minutes, Luke Robertson equalised, only for Goodship to complete his hat-trick on the hour-mark to make it 3-2.

Robertson scored his second to level matters 7 minutes later, only for Cameron Murray to make it 4-3 to the visitors in the 86th minute.

But Robertson matched Goodship by completing his triple to level matters in stoppage time.

The gap between the top four and fifth-placed Poole Town is now eight points after the Dolphins were held to a 1-1 draw at the WebbsWood by Swindon Supermarine.

The home side led from the 18th minute, thanks to Conor McDonagh`s effort, but Jake Scrimshaw salvaged a point for Tom Killick`s side 6 minutes from the end.

Gosport put five points between them and second-bottom Frome Town after beating them 3-1 at Privett Park.

Ryan Pennery broke the deadlock to give Boro a 65th minute lead that he doubled just 5 minutes later.

Pat Suraci made it 3-0 in the 78th minute, with Josh Morgan-Williams netting an 86th minute consolation for the Somerset side.

Dorchester Town pulled two points clear of the drop zone after damaging Harrow Borough`s top five hopes with a 3-2 win at the Avenue Stadium.

Ben Seymour gave the Magpies a 17th minute lead that Luke Winsper added to a minute after the break.

Seymour made it 3-0 just 5 minutes later, but a nervy end ensued after Ant O`Connor`s brace in the 68th and 84th minutes.

Wimborne Town made it five games unbeaten but had to make do with a point in the end from a 3-3 thriller at The W+S Stadium against Hendon.

Ryan Hope gave the Greens a 23rd minute lead that Luke Burbidge levelled 5 minutes later.

But a penalty converted by Shaq Hippolyte-Patrick a minute before the break restored the visitors lead.

Nine minutes into the second half though Toby Holmes equalised and then gave his side the lead after 65 minutes.

However, just 2 minutes later, Darren Locke levelled matters for Hendon.
