Watt has had an illustrious playing career starting at Chelsea where he played for the first team.

He also represented Barnsley, Swansea City, Inverness Caledonian Thistle, Ross County, Grimsby Town, Dover Athletic, Maidstone United and Hastings United.

He has had various managerial roles since retiring as a player, with the latest being at Margate where, as manager, he was close to qualifying for the play-offs to the Vanarama National League South.

Chairman Paul Markland told https://www.hythetownfc.co.uk: “We had many applicants for the role, and many were stand out candidates. We are delighted to have secured the services of Steve Watt, an ambitious and experienced manager and football man who we believe will get our promotion push back on track.”

Watt said, “I am excited to join an ambitious club who I believe has great potential for the future. I think that there are great days ahead for Hythe Town FC and I believe we can achieve our goals”.
