With
over 400 EFL appearances to his name, the Reds' club captain arrives in
Somerset to bolster the Glovers' options in the middle of the park.
Able
to operate across midfield - and with a keen eye for goal - Smith has made 169
appearances for Crawley whilst wearing the captain's armband in the majority of
those outings.
From
good pedigree having come through Chelsea's academy, the Londoner made his
Blues debut in the Premier League after being introduced by Jose Mourinho away
at Newcastle United in 2006.
Loans
in the Championship with Queens Park Rangers, Norwich City and Sheffield
Wednesday followed prior to a four-year stay across the capital at Leyton
Orient.
Part
of the side that went a club record 14 games unbeaten in League One, he bowed
out at Brisbane Road with 189 appearances and 22 goals.
Swiftly
snapped up by Stevenage in the summer of 2013, Smith wore the captain's armband
on a number of occasions as he made 47 appearances.
A
one-season stay in Hertfordshire was followed by a move to join the Reds where
he later scored a career-best 10 goals in 2017/18, prior to having his form
halted early last season after suffering a knee injury that ruled him out for
the majority of the campaign.
Now
back to fitness the midfielder arrives in Somerset to get some game time under
his belt. |
