The Buildbase FA Vase Second Qualifying Round saw several former finalists involved with mixed results, along with quite a number of teams suffering heavy defeats.

Southern Counties East League Premier Division club Deal Town, winners in 2000, are through thanks to a late Ben Cardwell winner at league rivals Hollands & Blair.

Ebac Northern League side Guisborough Town, finalists way back in 1980, inflicted a 5-1 drubbing on Toolstation Northern Counties East League Premier Division side Albion Sports on their own patch.

Mason McNeill bagged a brace for the north-east side, with a Mark Robinson penalty, Sonni Coleman and Tommy Marron wrapping up the nap hand.

The finalists a year later, now West Midlands (Regional) League Division One minnows Willenhall Town, lost 4-1 to Total Motion Midland League Premier Division visitors Boldmere St Michaels.

A year later in 1982, Rainworth Miners Welfare made it to Wembley but they bowed out today 3-2 at NCEL Premier Division AFC Mansfield.

The Wrens now ply their trade in the Step 6 East Midlands Counties League and looked like heading for an upset as they led 2-0 with goals from Callam Lytham and Declan Brewin by the half-hour mark.

But Jordan Annable, Ross Duggan and then, on 82 minutes, Brandon Webster, took the Bulls through.

The 1991 finalists Gresley, now in the Midland League Premier Division, beat Hallmark Security League Division One South side FC Oswestry 3-2, thanks to an Albert Lansdowne brace, while the 2010 finalists, Thurlow Nunn Leaguers Wroxham won by the same scoreline at Peterborough & District League minnows Netherton United.

Amongst the big scorelines was NWCL side Ashton Athletic`s 5-1 win at home to NCEL Premier Division Liversedge, with an own goal plus Adam Gilchrist, Marcus Cusani, Dale Butler and Saul Guffog finding the target.

Ashton`s league rivals Hanley Town were involved in an amazing tie at Midland League Premier Division Coventry Sphinx, where a goal 2 minutes into stoppage time by Tom Barrass earned the visitors a 5-4 win!

It was bad luck on Sphinx`s Phil Woodward, who bagged a brace for the hosts.

It wasn`t a good day for Coventry as Midland League Division One side Copsewood found themselves 5-0 down by half-time at Uhlsport Hellenic League Division One West side Malvern Town, whose Harry Clark, James Febery, Ethan Moran, Matt Fusco and Matt Turner were all on target.

Copsewood `won` the second half 2-0 but the damage had already been done.

West Midlands (Regional) League Premier Division side Black Country Rangers suffered an 8-0 mauling at home by Copsewood`s league rivals Leicester Road

Simon Alcott netted a first half hat-trick for Road.

Four sides hit seven in the afternoon sun.

Spartan South Midlands League Division One side Wodson Park were put to the sword at Thurlow Nunn Premier hosts Stanway Rovers, losing 7-1.

Shaw was Rovers` hat-trick hero.

Sydenhams Football League (Wessex) Premier side Cowes Sports hammered Wessex One visitors Verwood Town 7-3 after trailing 2-1 at half-time!

Southern Combination League Premier side Lancing hammered Southern Combination Division One visitors Worthing United 7-0 with goals from Alex Fair with a hat-trick, James Rhodes with two, George Fenton and Mo Juwara.

Worthing`s league rivals Arundel at least got one goal but also conceded seven at home to Southern Counties East League Premier Division Welling Town as Joel Thompson hit a double.

Hellenic Premier side Fairford Town won 6-1 at home against Hellenic Division One West outfit Shortwood United with Ben Lodge bagging a brace and Connor Thompson, Nathan Hawkins, Harvey Scholes and Dan Bailey singles.

Welling`s league rivals Beckenham Town hit Combined Counties League Division One minnows Farnham Town for six at Eden Park Avenue with Steven Townsend and Stefan Cox grabbing a brace apiece.

Meanwhile, it`s the end of the road for Essex Senior League side Hashtag United, who were victims of an `upset` by losing 3-2 at Thurlow Nunn League East Division Frenford.
