O`Hara
joined Billericay in March 2017 after leaving League One side Gillingham.
An
ex-Premier League player and England under-21 international, he broke through into
the Spurs first team at 21.
He
spent five years in the Arsenal youth set-up until, aged 17, he switched to
Tottenham in 2003.
Football
development would come via successful loan spells at League One clubs
Chesterfield and Millwall and with the extra motivation of being from a Lions
supporting family, he developed rapidly at the New Den.
This
brought him to the attention of then Spurs boss, Juande Ramos and in December 2007
he debuted in the North London derby.
A
change in manager at Spurs saw him loaned in 2009/10 to then-Premier League
side, Portsmouth.
An
FA Cup Final appearance against Chelsea and selection as Pompey fans player of
the season testified to a successful campaign.
After
back surgery curtailed early 2010/11, he moved to Wolves on loan in January
2011. His spell started well enough to earn him a permanent £3.5m transfer in
June 2011. However, persistent injuries, and two successive relegations under
five different managers, meant his three-and-a-half-year stay ended in
frustration.
Next
stop in August 2014 for O`Hara was Blackpool where he impressed sufficiently to
stay for the 2014/15 season.
In
July 2015, he joined Championship side Fulham. After a successful season as an
ever-present, he moved in summer 2016 to League One side Gillingham, where, due
to a foot injury, he only briefly featured in the team and subsequently moved
on to Billericay.
O'Hara,
32, had been assistant-manager to Wheeler. |
