Cockerline began his career with Sheffield United before spending time on loan at Curzon Ashton.

After leaving Bramall Lane he linked up with Northwich Victoria before landing a move to the National League with Barrow AFC.

After a loan spell with Stalybridge Celtic he linked up with Southport in the summer of 2017.

He moved to Hednesford Town on a six-month loan deal a year later.

Earlier this year, Cockerline moved `down under` and joined South Australia Division (second tier) side Adelaide Blue Eagles, who he helped to the play-offs.
