Manager Billy Heath has brought in winger Craig King and forward Curtis Bateson from relegated Gainsborough Trinity, strikers Richard Peniket from National League side Gateshead, striker Tom Denton, midfielder Danny Clarke and defender Josh Wilde from FC Halifax Town, goalkeeper Ross Durrant and midfielder Nathan Hotte from North Ferriby United and

King has signed a one-year deal at the Impact Arena.

King started his career at Leicester City where he came through the youth academy; he signed a two-year professional contract with the Foxes in 2008. King made the Leicester side for the first time as an unused substitute in a 3-0 Football League Trophy win over Hartlepool.

In 2009, King would join Hereford United on loan and remained at United for the rest of that season. Spells at Northampton Town and AFC Telford United followed before joining Bradford Park Avenue in 2015.

King would then join Salford City in May 2016 for the 2016/17 season before joining Gainsborough Trinity in May 2017. King scored four goals last season for the Holy Blues.

Heath told the club`s website: “Craig is another outstanding player that we are pleased to get with us at the Impact Arena. He brings flexibility and can play across the midfield areas; he can go either side of the midfield, wide left and wide right.

“He will bring creativity to our play; he has excellent delivery at set pieces and scores good goals. It is a good signing and Kingy always works hard all over the pitch. He has experience at this level and he was a player we earmarked when we first came in, we are delighted he is with us.”

Peniket arrives from Gateshead on a one-year deal.

Peniket started his career at Walsall and in 2009 joined Fulham, signing his first professional contract with the Cottagers in 2010.

In 2011 he moved on loan to Hereford United until the end of the season.

He would then have loan spells at Kidderminster Harriers, AFC Telford United and Farnborough Town during 2013 before being released by Fulham at the end of the 2012/13 season.

A move to Tamworth followed in 2013 before switching to Halifax Town in June 2014, where he made 90 appearances from 2014 to 2017, scoring 17 goals.

Peniket would then join Gateshead in May 2017 and made 50 appearances, scoring 11 goals during the 2017/18 season in the National League.

Heath spoke with press officer Amar Sharma after bringing Peniket to the club: “Rich is another very good player, we are very pleased to get him and we’ve worked hard to get him to the club.

“He has been a regular at Gateshead and also played under me at Halifax during the promotion campaign. He is a strong player, very mobile and can hold the ball up well. He provides another dangerous option up front, scores important goals and adds strength in depth to us.

“We are bringing in strong, experienced and quality players here at the Reds and Rich is another strong signing for us to add to the squad.”

Big striker Tom Denton joins FC Halifax Town and goalkeeper Ross Durrant from North Ferriby United.

Denton joins the Reds on a one-year deal.

His career began playing for Wakefield when he was just 17. He signed for Huddersfield Town for £60,000 in 2008.

He then had a series of loan moves to Woking and Cheltenham Town as well as twice back to Wakefield, as he struggled to break into the Terriers’ first-team squad.

Denton joins the Reds for his second spell after moving to the Impact Arena in 2012 before a loan move to Worksop Town was made permanent.

Denton would then link up with Heath at North Ferriby in 2014 - he won the Buildbase FA Trophy with the Villagers in 2015 and scored 21 league goals in the National League North during that campaign.

Denton then signed for Halifax in the summer of 2016 on a two-year contract for an undisclosed fee.

He scored 10 goals in 31 appearances last season in the National League for the Shaymen before being released at the end of the season.

On the signing of Denton, Heath said: “I’ve had him at two different clubs and he has always done really well. He’s played a big part in the success at those clubs and is a huge player to bring in for us, it’s a great addition.

“Tom is a proven goal-scorer and he has scored goals in both the National League North and the Premier, he can score goals at all levels and brings experience to the side.

“He is a better player than people give credit for, his physical stature often means people think he’s the natural target man, but Tom is brilliant with his feet, he has much more to his game than just heading the ball. He’s scored plenty with his feet and we are delighted to have him here at Alfreton.

“The fans can expect goals; he’s a top striker, he holds it well and can be that target man. But he is also good in both boxes; he is great at defending set plays, corners. It’s a big asset for us and it’s a fantastic first signing.”

Wilde pens a one-year deal at the Impact Arena.

Wilde came through the ranks at Sheffield United and has had spells at Buxton, Gainsborough Trinity and North Ferriby United.

The left-back was also a part of the North Ferriby side which won the Trophy in 2015 and saw the Shaymen win in the 2016 final.

Wilde was an integral part of the Halifax side that won promotion via the play-offs in the 2016/17 and made 34 appearances in the 2017/18 National League last season, before leaving the Shaymen at the end of the season.

Heath on signing Wilde: “We are thrilled to bring Josh to the club. He really is `Mr `Dependable`. He is the most consistent player I’ve ever worked with and we know what we are going to get with him.

“He performs at the top-level week in and week out, he gives it everything in every game and he is a fantastic addition for us. He is a solid defender, reads the game well, intelligent and composed on the ball. He is a top left back and one of the best, if not the best when I worked with him at Halifax. It is another big signing for us and another quality addition to the team.”

Durrant has signed a one-year deal at the Impact Arena.

Durrant a product of the Nottingham Forest academy; has had spells at both Ilkeston FC and Boston United in recent seasons.

He joined then-Evo-Stik Northern Premier side Ilkeston in 2016 after spending time on loan with the Robins from Forest.

A switch to Boston then followed in December 2016. He arrived as Adam Murray's first signing from Ilkeston and made his Pilgrims' debut against FC United of Manchester at Broadhurst Park.

He would then join North Ferriby in July 2017 after making 22 appearances for the Pilgrims and was a regular starter for the Villagers, making 39 appearances in the league, in what proved to be a difficult campaign, as Ferriby were relegated last season.

Heath said on Durrant joining the Reds: “Ross is a top young keeper and he did very well at Ferriby last year. We went to watch him two or three times last season and everytime we watched him, he was impressive.

“He has great ability, he’s a good shot stopper and matured very well in the last season. He is a good fit with us and a good fit for the club. He had a good season despite relegation and I think in a way that brought him on more, there was pressure and he had lots to do last year in what was a difficult campaign.

“We are delighted to have Ross with us and it’s another strong signing to the Impact.”

Midfielder Nathan Hotte is another to arrive from FC Halifax.

He signs a one-year deal with the Reds.

Hotte although primarily a midfielder, can slot into the back line and even up front.

He spent four years at Bradford Park Avenue, making 183 appearances and his other previous clubs include Scarborough Athletic, Farsley Celtic and, as a youngster, Hull City.

Hotte would join Halifax in the summer of 2016 and made 52 starts, scoring one goal during his time at the Shay – he then left the Shaymen at the end of the season.

On the acquisition of Hotte, Heath said: “Nathan is a lad with big experience; he’s spent many years at Bradford Park Avenue and also Halifax. He is a flexible player who can play anywhere across the midfield and he can slot in at centre back if required.

“Hotty is a strong player, athletic and will provide yet another option around the park for us. We want to bring in as much quality as we can and really create a solid unit which we are doing. Hotty joining us is another strong signing to the squad and we want to continue to strengthen, we are delighted to have him.”

Forward Curtis Bateson (pictured) arrives from Gainsborough Trinity on a one-year deal.

Bateson came through the youth ranks at Scunthorpe United and signed a professional contract with the Iron at the beginning of the 2014/15 season.

He had two loan spells with Gainsborough before joining North Ferriby in January 2015.

Bateson made 99 appearances for the Villagers, scoring 19 goals and was also member of Ferriby's National League North play-off final winning squad in the 2015/16 season.

He would then join Gainsborough in November 2017 before being released at the end of the 2017/18 campaign.

Heath added on signing Bateson: “I’ve known Curtis for a long time and very well whilst I worked with him at Ferriby. He hit double figures in goals in first season in the Conference North and he really took the league by storm in that first season, we had several clubs higher up sniffing for him during that time.

“Injuries have hampered his recent progress and he hasn’t fulfilled his target since injury, he wants to progress and was delighted to come to Alfreton and join the project at the Impact Arena.

“He is a sharp lad, good on both feet, can operate well off the front man. He’s desperate to make up for lost time and we are delighted to have him with us here at Alfreton.”

Heath also confirmed the signing of midfielder Danny Clarke from FC Halifax, also on a one-year deal.

The former North Ferriby captain spent five years at Grange Lane before making the switch to Halifax in November 2016.

Clarke enjoyed success in his first season with Halifax after he helped guide the side to the play-off final success against Chorley in the 2016/17 season.

He can play in midfield or lead the attack and previous clubs include Winterton Rangers, Hall Road Rangers, Frickley Athletic and Hull United.

Clarke made 17 starts for the Shaymen during the 2017/18 campaign, scoring once.

Heath said of Clarke: “We are delighted to have signed Danny, it’s another player I know very well, and the squad is coming together now. He is another experienced player for us who can play upfront, across the midfield; he is a very versatile player.

“Danny is always full of energy and his desire is relentless, his will to win is huge. He’s played at a higher level and is a very good player. You know what you’re getting week in and week out, a consistent performer who is a work horse and it’s a very strong signing for this level”.
