The Seasiders, going well in their league, took a 25th minute lead through Kieran Weledji.

And the Tigers hopes of taking on Southern League Premier Division Central outfit Stourbridge in the Fourth Qualifying Round took a severe blow when they had defender Josh Thomas sent-off with a straight red card for a foul on Bradley Mills 5 minutes before half-time.

Weledji (pictured), normally a defender but playing up front for injury-hit Whitby, doubled his and the visitors` lead 5 minutes after the break.

Substitute Zack Kotwica reduced the deficit for the ten-men in the 72nd minute, but an Adam Gell third in the 85th minute ensured Whitby had an enjoyable, albeit lengthy midweek journey home.
