Shelton
joined Salford ahead of the 2017/18 season from National League North side
Alfreton Town.
Born
in Nottingham, he was a youngster at Nottingham Forest before being offered a
scholarship by Burton Albion.
A
regular in the youth team, the 23-year-old also made the bench for the first
team on a couple of occasions but didn’t make a senior appearance for the
Brewers and moved onto Ilkeston.
A
short spell was followed by a move to Alfreton where Shelton scored 4 goals in
25 appearances as the Derbyshire outfit retained their place in the National
League North, but Shelton’s eyes were set higher and in his first season with
Salford he won promotion to the National League.
That
became back-to-back promotions into the Football League in 2018/19, despite
suffering a long-term injury, but he made a comeback at Wembley in time for the
Promotion Final.
Shelton
has been a regular in recent weeks for the Ammies but joins the Cards on a
three-month loan deal. |
