Following the resignation of Morgan LaForce and his management team last week, Essex Senior League club Ilford have appointed Jonny Fowell as their new man in charge.

The former Clapton and St Margaretsbury manager has also been involved at Chelsea`s community scheme and as a coach at Enfield Town.

Fowell comes with plenty of experience in the league after almost three seasons in charge of Clapton, including a second-place finish, before leaving to seek a new challenge at St Margaretsbury earlier this season.

He left that role after a few weeks though and took on the job of being assistant manager at BetVictor Isthmian League South Central outfit FC Romania.

Fowell wasted little time in strengthening his squad, bringing in attacking midfielder Greg Akpele from league rivals Fisher FC, midfielder Tarome Hemmings from Isthmian League South Central side Westfield and forward Ali Al-Nashi from his previous club, FC Romania.
