.....giantkiller themselves of course
were beaten 5-2 at New Lodge by National League South side Billericay Town.
The
prolific Jake Robinson once again showed his worth to the Essex side with a
hat-trick, Sam Deering and Odysseus Alfa added singles, with Harry Beautyman
and Tommy Wright replying for the U`s.
Billericay
will now face SkyBet League Two side Forest Green Rovers in the First Round.
The
National League did see Barnet, Eastleigh and Maidenhead United progress
against teams from a lower level.
The
Bees were held by BetVictor Isthmian League Premier Division neighbours Potters
Bar Town in the original tie but made no mistake at The Hive in the reply,
running out 3-1 winners with goals from Josh Walker after 38 minutes, Ephron Mason-Clark
on 54 minutes and Jack Taylor from the penalty spot just past the hour-mark
all after Ben Ward-Cochrane had put the Scholars in front after 26 minutes.
Eastleigh
and Maidenhead United both saw off National League South opposition the Spitfires
winning 4-2 at the Silverlake Stadium against Welling United and the Magpies
enjoying a 2-0 success at Grosvenor Vale against Wealdstone.
Eastleigh
took the lead after 10 minutes when academy graduate Tom Bearwish was brought
down in the box and Scott Rendell duly converted from the spot.
Ten
minutes later, Welling equalised through Adam Coombes, only for Ben Williamson
to restore the Spitfires lead on the half-hour mark.
Shortly
after the start of the second half, the hosts increased their lead with a
second penalty conversion from Rendell following a handball.
Five
minutes later, Eastleigh had their fourth. Academy graduate Tom Bearwish
Anthony
Cook pulled a goal back with 5 minutes to go.
Maidenhead`s
hero on the night was Josh Kelly, who bagged a brace in the 14th and
56th minutes, although Wealdstone didn`t help their cause by having
Jacob Mendy sent-off 2 minutes before half-time.
Ebbsfleet
United and Wrexham won the two all-National League replays.
Fleet
went through against another side with big FA Cup pedigree, Woking, at the Laithwaite
Community Stadium.
A
24th minute Alex Reid effort eventually proved the difference
between the teams.
Wrexham
also went through with the only goal of the game at the Racecourse Ground against
Chesterfield.
JJ
Hooper scored the only goal on the half-hour mark.
In
the all-BetVictor Southern League Premier Division South replay, Poole Town were
edged out by Hayes & Yeading United by the odd goal in five at the Black
Gold Stadium in Dorset.
The
game survived a pre-match floodlight failure to go on to produce a cup
thriller.
Joe
Grant gave the visitors the lead just after the half-hour mark.
But
Marvin Brooks pulled the Dolphins back on level terms in the 37th
minute.
However,
James Clark restored Hayes & Yeading`s lead right on the stroke of
half-time.
Three
minutes into the second half, Toby Little increased the visitors` advantage to 3-1
and they held that lead, despite a lot of home pressure, until 3 minutes into
the 6 minutes added on at the end of the game when Poole goalkeeper Luke Cairney
came up for a corner and scored to make the final score 3-2 and make for a nervy
last couple of minutes. |
