Luke
Thompson and Ben Hampson have checked into the Harry Williams Riverside Stadium.
Thompson
is no stranger to the Rammy faithful he’s played 130 games for the club over
three seasons and re-joins the club after spending the first part of the season
with NPL Premier Division side Lancaster City.
Thompson
is a no-nonsense centre-back who joined the Dolly Blues in June from Ramsbottom.
His
progression has been a rapid one - a late bloomer who was plucked from amateur
football to play in the North West Counties League with the likes of Padiham,
Colne and Nelson before a move to the NPL in the summer of 2016 and his stock
has continually risen following consistently strong performances.
His
‘old fashioned’ defensive style has made him a popular figure amongst
supporters of the clubs he’s played for.
Right
back Hampson (pictured) joins the Rams from league rivals Ossett United.
He
spent last season in Australia with North Geelong Warriors having joined them
in June 2018 from Stage League One side Banyule City SC, where he was captain
for the first half of the 2018 season.
Hampson
joined the Banyule Bulls at the beginning of 2017, seeing out a successful
first year in Australia winning the clubs player of the year award.
Prior
to this, the defender spent five years with Bolton Wanderers. |
