Cox replaces Nicky Eaden, who left the Poppies earlier this month since when academy pair Steve Kinniburgh and Luke Graham have taken caretaker charge.

Cox has wide playing and football management experience, having played for Notts County and Hull City in the Football League, and then in the upper levels of the non-League game with the likes of the Poppies and Halifax Town.

As a Manager he has had considerable success winning Championships with both Eastwood Town and Mansfield Town, taking them into the Football League.

He was in charge at Barrow AFC where he enjoyed considerable success before taking the helm at Guiseley AFC in September 2017.

But, despite having taken charge of over 300 games as a manager, Cox has been out of the managerial game since February 2018 when his spell at Guiseley came to an end.
