Former Lewes, Farnborough,
Whitehawk and Macclesfield Town boss King has been busy adding Anthony Acheampong,
Nassim L`Ghoul, Richard Orlu, Gavin McCallum and John-Paul Kissock to his squad.
Twenty-seven-year-old
centre-back Acheampong joins from newly-promoted rivals Dulwich Hamlet, although
he had a loan spell with the Wings during last season and now begins his third
stint at Park View Road.
Originally on
the books at Cardiff City, Acheampong played for Horsham before joining Welling
for the first time in 2010/11.
Three seasons
and over 100 appearances later, he moved to Barnet, Ebbsfleet United and
Maidstone United before joining Dulwich in 2017.
Forward L’Ghoul
played in the youth team at FC Lyon and was selected for the French under-17
squad in 2015.
He played in
the Nike Academy after coming over to England, in addition to having trials
with League One sides Charlton Athletic and Sheffield United.
He ended up at
St. Neots in November 2016 and before joining Whitehawk under Steve King at the
start of October 2017, initially on loan, before making the move more
permanent.
Defender Orlu
arrives at Welling from another new league rival, relegated Woking.
Orlu joined the
Cards in May 2017 from Dover Athletic and made 28 league appearances and scored
just the one goal.
A tall central
defender, Orlu became a fans` favourite at Dover during the club’s promotion to
Conference Premier in 2014.
He played for
Staines Town in 2010, making 33 appearances for the Swans in his first season
there before moving to Farnborough in December 2011.
He signed for then
Isthmian Premier side Canvey Island in 2012 and was ever-present in the league,
making 42 appearances, scoring 2 goals.
Orlu moved to
Dover in July 2013 for a pre-season trial and impressed enough to be signed on
a one-year contract.
He went on to
become a regular in the side during the second half of the 2013/14 season,
scoring several crucial goals and helping the club achieve promotion.
He went on to
make 133 appearances for the Whites and earn England C honours.
McCallum joins from
league rivals Eastbourne Borough, for whom he made 142 appearances and score 25
goals after joining in June 2014.
He began his
career with Yeovil Town before going on to join Weymouth, Havant &
Waterlooville, Sutton United, Hereford United, Lincoln City and Woking.
He has also
made an international appearance for the Canadian national team, as well as four
appearances for the Canada under-20 side.
John-Paul
Kissock is another player the manager knows well.
Kissock began
his career in Everton’s youth team and became the youngest ever player for
Everton reserves.
After leaving
Goodison Park, Kissock had spells at Hamilton Academical and Formby before
joining Southport for the first time in 2010.
He then went to
Luton Town for an undisclosed fee as well as spending time at Macclesfield
under King, and Oldham Athletic.
He then joined
former Southport coach Pablo Asensio at Whitehawk before joining Ebbsfleet
United.
Kissock, who
has represented England at under-16, under-18 and C level, re-joined Southport
in the summer of 2017.
