....as Great Grimsby MP Melanie Onn and Cleethorpes MP Martin Vickers cut the ribbon to mark the return to the Linden Club.
The ground has seen the installation of new floodlights, seated stands and standing stand. This has been accompanied by pitch improvement works which has seen the pitch re-laid as the pitch was dug up and re-installed and levelled.
The stadium has been funded through the Premier League Football Stadia Improvement Fund, the club also utilised the Buildbase bursary and the goodwill of local businesses who came together to enable the return of the Owls home.
The community focus of the ground was evident at the opening with great turnout who came to explore the area`s newest community asset.
Club chairman Jason Ledden was delighted, announcing: "Today means so much to the club. Whilst the focus is on the first-team, this is for our thirty junior sides who deserve this as without the juniors there would be no club.
"A big thank you to the volunteers who have helped the club reach today."
The ground`s first game is on July 7th when Cleethorpes host SkyBet League Two neighbours Grimsby Town. |
