The 22-year-old left-sided centre-back is returning to the National League North after rekindling his love for the game.

"I fell out of love with the game a few years back,” Carter told Boro`s website. “It was around the same time my daughter was born, but now that she's started growing up I realised that I still had a passion for the game as well.

"I spoke to Nicky Eaden this week after hearing of Boro's interest in me, and he told me about his plans for the team and really sold the club to me. The quality of the other players that have signed show the intent of the Manager and, having played against the Boro, I know that this club has the potential to be playing at a much higher level.”

The defender played for Birmingham City and Aston Villa as a youngster before going on to captain Wolverhampton Wanderers` under-23 side.

After loan spells at Chesterfield and Tamworth, Carter made a permanent move to Kidderminster Harriers.

He added: "I have played against the Boro for Harriers, and for Wolves in the Birmingham Senior Cup, and I am looking forward to playing for the club this season. I feel that I played some of the best football of my career at this level and I'm ready to get back to that."

Carter spent last season at Alvechurch, where he made 50 appearances and scored 4 times for the Church.

“I took a step down a level in order to work my way back up to where I was, I've done that now and I'm ready to push on with the Boro”.
