Worsfold Sold to Basford

BetVictor Northern Premier League Premier Division club Gainsborough Trinity have accepted a significant four-figure offer for leading scorer Ashley Worsfold.

The forward, with 6 goals this campaign, only had six months remaining on his current deal.

The 29-year-old was given the opportunity to discuss terms and has now decided to join Trinity`s league rivals Basford United.

Worsfold signed for Gainsborough Trinity in 2017 and was a bright spark in an otherwise disappointing campaign which resulted in relegation from the National League North, despite his 19 goals.

He started out at Sheffield Wednesday and has since played for Goole Town, Sheffield FC, Alfreton Town and Harrogate Town, where he suffered a bad injury.

He began his recuperation with Buxton in February 2016.
