McNally, who took charge back in June last year, guided the REMY to promotion in 2017/18 following an arduous First Division campaign.

Before that, he served as first-team coach during the 2016/17 season which saw the REMY reach the play-off final but miss out on promotion.

The ex-Cammell Laird boss departed the club following talks with the Board, chairman Don Rimmer telling the club`s website: "Having led the team to promotion, Paul’s reputation as a manager is high.

"However, following discussions with the management committee, both parties concluded they would explore other options.

"Litherland REMYCA FC have respect for Paul and are grateful for his hard work, commitment and achievements this past season. We wish him well in his future endeavours".
