The former Leiston manager joined the Iron in the summer and leaves them in ninth place in the table.

His long-time assistant Tony Kinsella has also stepped down.

Driver issued a statement which reads: “It`s with a heavy heart that I have decided to resign from my position as manager of Braintree Town Football Club with immediate effect.

“I would like to thank chairman Lee Harding for the opportunity he gave me to manage a club at Step 2 level and I would also like to thank the players for their support and efforts since the day I took over.

“I leave the club just two points outside the play-offs and with a squad that has proven it can compete at this level.

“I wish the club all the very best for the rest of the season”.
