Kendall was appointed as John Sussex’s successor last week, but Basildon were hammered 6-1 by Isthmian Premier Division side Hornchurch in the Buildbase FA Trophy Second Qualifying Round yesterday.

And vice-chairman Lee Connor confirmed Kendall and his backroom staff have left the club.

Connor said: “We have had second thoughts and feel decisions were made far too quickly on the appointment of Glen Kendall and his management team.

“Therefore, Glen and his team have been relieved of their duties and the club will not be making any rash decisions for the time being.

“I will be stepping up as interim manager until a permanent appointment is made”.
