Stanley moved to Shawbridge as one of Brown’s first major signings after taking charge in the summer.

And following a brief move away to Southern League Premier Division Central outfit Nuneaton Borough, he has now re-joined the Blues.

“It’s great to have him back,” Brown told https://www.clitheroefc.co.uk. “We didn’t want him to go but there were reasons behind that which haven’t quite panned out.

“He did well for us when he was here and he will again bring added quality and experience to the squad we have.”

As well as four England C international caps, Stanley also brings to Shawbridge a twice National League play-off winning pedigree and almost 200 Football League appearances.

Stanley, who plays in defence or midfield, originally joined after ending a Southern League Premier Division Central title-winning season with Kettering Town.

He won back-to-back promotions from the National League with Hereford United and then Morecambe, where he launched a League career that also included spells with Bristol Rovers and Aldershot Town.

He returned to non-League football with Lincoln City in 2015 as the Imps started their climb back towards the Football League.

And after initially returning to the North West with Southport, on loan, and Lancaster, Stanley is back in Lancashire to provide valuable know-how to the squad.
