A statement from the club reads: “After a discussion between the Board, it was
felt that after, albeit three games, there was a need for us to review current
first team affairs, including the appointments made following the departure of
Tim Minihane.
“After
conducting that review it was felt that it was in the club`s best interests to
part company now and protect the long-term aims and objectives of the club.
“We
are disappointed to have had to make this decision so soon after appointing
Darren and it was a decision that was not taken lightly but one we believe will
benefit us in the long run. The club certainly takes no pride in removing a
manager from his role and we would like to place on record our thanks to Darren
for his effort and contribution during his short time at the club.
“The
Board will not rush the appointment of a permanent manager, instead we are
unanimous in our decision to appoint UEFA B qualified coach David Doe as
caretaker manager until the end of the season with Steve Collins moving to
assistant-manager.
“David,
Steve and all the players can be assured of our full and unwavering support and
we believe that now it`s important to bring some stability, cohesion and focus
with plenty of the season to go as we look to pick up points and finish the
season on a high”. |
