Henshall
began his career at home-town club Swindon Town and turned down approaches from
Manchester United and Liverpool in order to sign for Manchester City.
After
loan spells at Chesterfield, Bristol Rovers and Ipswich Town, the pacey winger
joined the Tractor Boys on a permanent basis.
A
move north of the border to Kilmarnock was followed by spells in non-League
football with Margate, Braintree Town and then Nuneaton, two years ago, where
he met up with then-manager Tommy Wright, whom he followed to Darlington.
He
made 26 appearances for the Quakers last season but returned to Nuneaton in
June 2019 to be closer to his Wiltshire home and young family.
Henshall
also played extensively in England’s Youth set-up, winning almost 20 caps and
playing in two major tournaments. |
