The pair have played together successfully at both Crawley Town and Eastleigh and are excited to advance their careers in football coaching and management with Gosport.
McAllister originally joined Gosport in January 2018 after parting company with Vanarama National League side Eastleigh.
The 37-year-old joined the then Southern Premier strugglers as player-coach, working alongside the re-installed manager Alex Pike.
It brought to an end McAllister's fourth spell at Eastleigh, who he re-joined from Sutton United in February 2017.
McAllister returned to help the Spitfires when they were struggling under Martin Allen's reign.
Following Allen's departure, he played a significant part, both on and off the pitch, in helping returning boss Richard Hill keep the club afloat in the National League.
However, McAllister left Gosport a couple of months later and joined Blackfield & Langley, who he helped to win the Sydenhams Football League (Wessex) title.
The well-travelled forward has a wealth of experience to offer Gosport, having played for the likes of Basingstoke, Exeter City, Woking, Crawley Town and Newport County during a long career that had started with Eastleigh youth.
Thirty-three-year-old Tubbs us another vastly experienced and well-travelled striker.
Salisbury-born Tubbs joins Gosport from National League newcomers Havant & Waterlooville.
He signed for the Hawks last summer after they gained promotion to the National League South just a year after suffering relegation.
Tubbs spent just over a year with the Hawks` neighbours Portsmouth before joining Eastleigh on loan for the latter part of the 2015/16 campaign.
Following his release from Pompey, Tubbs signed for Forest Green Rovers and Sutton United before then-Eastleigh boss Richard Hill brought him back to the Silverlake in March 2017 and he made nine appearances for the Spitfires, playing alongside McAllister, scoring one goal, as they secured National League survival.
Before joining Pompey, Tubbs had spells with Dorchester Town, Salisbury City, Crawley Town and AFC Bournemouth.
He played 26 times for Havant last season, netting 7 goals, and also had a spell on loan with Weymouth in the Southern Premier.
McAllister told Gosport`s website "I'm really excited and grateful to be giving this opportunity to manage the football club.
"My role at this moment in time is player-manager. I’ll be slowly coming away from the playing side as we progress together. That said I’m really looking forward to playing alongside Matt again.
"It’s time to look forward and not behind us and it’s important that everyone understands this.
"I’ll be realistic about the season targets but one thing for sure is to keep improving on previous seasons. If I didn’t say my aim was to make play-offs I’d be kidding myself. My standards have always been high at starts of seasons, so I won’t change that.
"Regarding preparation for pre-season, I’m taking over quite late so things have been put in place but that’s not to say a few things will change.
"Matt and I want to create a good environment for players to come into. We have some very tasty pre-season games - they won’t be easy but a great test for our players. First and foremost, it’s about these players getting fit and ready for the first game of the season.
"Matt comes in as player-coach and to help assist me. He's a top professional and top man. His career speaks for its self and he will bring lots to this football club on and off the pitch". |
