Chairman Mark Hayes said: “Dave has been very successful at our club and has been given a huge opportunity to jump the divisions.

“He has been offered a fantastic role at Atherton Collieries and he goes with our best wishes.

“We have a script to follow this season, and to continue that we have immediately appointed Lee Bignall and Karl Bell as joint managers and Chris Stammers as head coach.

“I have always said that I would fully back anyone moving forward from the club to the point that I would even proudly drive them. Luckily this is only Atherton so he can make his own way!

“On a serious note though, Colls is a club that I hugely admire so Dave goes with my greatest of best wishes and as always I will look out for Colls` results and hope they continue their amazing fairytale journey up the leagues.

“The future is now Lee, Karl and Chris, whom I have no doubt will continue to take us forward”.
