The midfielder was recently released by NPL Premier Division side Gainsborough Trinity.

The 24-year-old made 20 appearances in all competitions last season for the Holy Blues, having joined the club from Alfreton Town in October 2018.

Of the three regular starters from last season who were given summer targets before being considered for the 2019/20 season, Middleton was the only one who rose to the challenge and secured a contract.

However, he has found it difficult maintaining a place since Curtis Woodhouse arrived as manager.

He started his career at Doncaster Rovers, going on to make 63 appearances.

He moved to Port Vale in August 2017 and played 6 times, as well as have a loan spell with FC Halifax Town, before leaving Vale Park in May 2018.
