The
18-year-old joined Fulham at under-9. He is renowned for his distribution and
is confident playing out from the back.
He
played regularly for England at under-16 level and went on to have an
impressive first year as a scholar, making 20 appearances. In October at the
age of 16 he was called up to the under-23 side and went on to make 11
appearances.
Ashby-Hammond
was subsequently called up by current Swansea City boss Steve Cooper for
England’s under-17s European Championship team and handed the number 1 shirt.
The
Young Lions were knocked out in the semi-final on penalties to eventual
Champions, Holland. Ashby-Hammond took a penalty and rifled it into the top
corner, just as he had done against Huddersfield Town in the FA Youth Cup
earlier in the season.
He
advanced form this by stepping up to the Young Lions' under-18 squad. |
