The 20-year-old made 37 appearances for the Coasters last season on loan from then-SkyBet League One side Wigan Athletic and manager Dave Challinor moved quickly to secure a permanent move for the defender after his release from the Latics, who gained promotion to the Championship.

Burke came through the academy at Wigan, having joined the Latics when he was 11.

In 2016 he was awarded the academy player of the season and signed a professional deal shortly afterwards.

He progressed to make five first-team appearances – mostly in the Championship – and then in February 2017, Burke joined Fylde`s league rivals Barrow AFC on a month`s loan during which time he played two matches for the Bluebirds.

Then last season he was loaned to the Coasters, initially for a six-month period which was extended until the end of the 2017/18 season.

Full-back Burke joins Neill Byrne Gateshead and Ryan Croasdale from Kidderminster Harriers as new signings to date at Mill Farm.
